Have music, will travel…
When you go to the about section of most websites it tells you all about what the event is, but seeing that this is our first ever time of putting on an event, we have decided to make this
section all about what we would like Coaster to be & most importantly what Coaster would like to see happen to you. And of course we are going to let you know everything that we have lined up so far.
With the Central Coast being the third largest local area in NSW, we thought the time is right for the Central Coast to have a major event of its very own. Many of the regional areas of Australia have been overlooked by touring bands and festivals, leaving Central Coast music lovers no choice but to travel for hours to see their favourite acts or attend large scale outdoor music events. Not anymore. Welcome to Coaster, Australia’s newest and most exciting one day music and arts extravaganza.
Coaster 2008 takes place on Saturday the 20th September at the Gosford Showground’s in Gosford. Coaster is an all ages festival and is the place to be for anyone from 5 to 105 with a love of music, arts and the outdoors. Pioneering and reinforcing the strong music, arts and creative culture of the Central Coast, we would love to see Coaster become one of the major events of the year. The kind of thing you mark on your brand new calendar the minute you get it.
When we decided upon the lineup we wanted to ensure we could get some of the biggest acts in the country and most importantly that they all the acts were at the top of their game. And we think we have done it as there is none better then
The Living End, who we regard as one of Australia’s greatest ever acts & who will be taking the hallowed position of the first act to headline Coaster.
Kisschasy fresh from a sell out Australian theatre tour & their second consecutive gold record.
The magnificent live rock beast that is Cog, Australia’s favourite prog rock pioneers promoting their 2008 release “Sharing Space”.
Something With Numbers flying the local flag and promoting their brand spanking new single “Stay With Me Bright Eyes” and album due out in September.
Blue King Brown bending things in their own special way, with a blend of Australian Afro Reggae.
The biggest dance act in the country at the moment The Potbelleez, with the biggest selling single of the year under their belt and a new album to come.
The Matches fresh from San Francisco here to promote album #3 "A Band In Hope" which will be their fifth trip to Oz.
Bluejuice pumping out their brand of Vitriol which was one of the highest played songs on JJJ this year & a sold out tour run,
& local rock sensations The Lazys ready to kick start things with a huge bang!!!
The show site will feature one stage in the main area as well as an undercover DJ & band area running from the late afternoon until the final curtain is drawn. Ensuring there’ll be something for everyone, Coaster will also be playing host to a wide variety of food stalls, competitions, games , tea parties, arts and crafts (maybe, still deciding on this one) and a huge sausage sizzle (What could be more Australian then that?)
So, what we want you to know is that Coaster wants you to have a good time. Coaster wants you to laugh, live and enjoy. Coaster wants you to leave with a smile on your face and a spring in your step. Coaster wants you to say, in 10 years from now, “Yeah, I was at the first one way back in 2008”. Coaster wants to be a better friend to you then Facebook or Myspace could ever be.
